Marijuana Decriminalization

Thousands of people are unnecessarily hand-cuffed, booked, fingerprinted, and jailed each year in Philadelphia for possessing small amounts of marijuana. The work of Poe and his supporters and colleagues was pivotal in crafting and lobbying for Philadelphia City Council Bill 140001-A to end the practice of mandatory custodial arrest for possession of 30 grams or less of pot.

As Councilor At-large, Poe will see through to passage of this common sense legislation that has now been effectively stalled in committee, as part of his fight for the overall decriminalization of a very useful plant which is very many times safer than alcohol.
